Gil Vicente FC is a Portuguese football club from Barcelos in the north of the country, founded in 1924 and named after the playwright born in the town. It plays at the Estádio Cidade de Barcelos, a ground of about 12,000 places, and competes in the Primeira Liga. The club has moved between the top two divisions for three decades and reached the Taça de Portugal final in 2023. It plays in red and blue and is nicknamed Os Galos, the Roosters, after the Barcelos cockerel that is a national emblem.
