FC Baník Ostrava is a Czech football club from Ostrava in Moravian Silesia, founded in 1922 as SK Slezská Ostrava and later named after the coal mining that shaped the city. It plays at the Městský stadion in Vítkovice, a ground of 15,123 places, and competes in the Czech First League. The club won three Czechoslovak championships and one Czech title, four national cups, and the Mitropa Cup in 1988. It plays in blue and white and is nicknamed Chachaři, a local word for a cheerful rogue. Its support is among the most vocal in the country.
