Atlanta United FC is an American soccer club from Atlanta, Georgia, founded in 2014 and playing in Major League Soccer since 2017. It shares the Mercedes-Benz Stadium with the city's NFL team, where crowds above seventy thousand have made it the best supported club in the league. Atlanta won MLS Cup in its second season, in 2018, and the US Open Cup in 2019. It plays in red, black and gold and is nicknamed the Five Stripes after the bars on its shirt. The club also runs a reserve side in MLS Next Pro and an academy.
