Tromsø IL is a Norwegian football club from Tromsø, founded on 15 September 1920. It plays at the Romssa Arena, a ground of about 6,800 places, and competes in the Eliteserien. The club has won the Norwegian Cup twice and finished runner-up in the league, and it beat Chelsea in the Cup Winners' Cup in 1997. It plays in red and white. At almost 70 degrees north it is the northernmost club in top-flight European football, and its ground has been snow-cleared for matches in April.
