Kinokuniya is a Japanese bookshop chain founded in 1927, when its first store opened in Shinjuku in Tokyo. The name translates as bookstore of Kii Province. The company has its head office in Meguro, Tokyo, and its shops sell Japanese and foreign language books, magazines and stationery. Besides its stores in Japan it runs branches abroad, in countries such as the United States, Singapore, Australia and the United Arab Emirates.
