VfL Wolfsburg is a German football club from Wolfsburg in Lower Saxony, founded on 12 September 1945. It plays at the Volkswagen Arena, a ground of 30,000 places, and competes in the Bundesliga. The club won the German championship in 2009 and the DFB-Pokal in 2015. It plays in green and white and is nicknamed Die Wölfe, the Wolves. It is owned by Volkswagen, whose main plant built the town, and its women's team is one of the most successful in Europe.
