Olympique de Marseille is a French football club from Marseille, founded on 31 August 1899. It plays at the Stade Vélodrome, a ground of 67,394 places, and competes in Ligue 1. Marseille have won the French championship nine times, the Coupe de France ten times, and in 1993 became the first and so far only French club to win the Champions League. It plays in white and light blue and is nicknamed Les Phocéens, after the Greek settlers from Phocaea who founded the city.
