Rio Ave FC is a Portuguese football club from Vila do Conde on the coast north of Porto, founded in 1939 and named after the river Ave that runs through the town. It plays at the Estádio dos Arcos, a ground of about 5,300 places, and competes in the Primeira Liga. The club reached both domestic cup finals in 2014 and qualified for the Europa League several times. It plays in green and white. Its academy has a good record of selling players on to the larger Portuguese clubs.
