Real Sporting de Gijón is a Spanish football club from Gijón in Asturias, founded on 1 July 1905. It plays at El Molinón, a ground of 29,371 places and the oldest in Spanish professional football, and competes in the Spanish league. The club finished runner-up in La Liga in 1979 and reached the Copa del Rey final twice. It plays in red and white stripes. Its academy, Mareo, has produced a long line of Spain internationals.
