albirex.co.jpAbout Albirex Niigata
Albirex Niigata is a Japanese football club from Niigata on the Sea of Japan coast, formed in 1955 as Niigata Eleven SC and renamed to its present name in 1997. It plays at the Denka Big Swan Stadium, a ground of 42,300 places built for the 2002 World Cup, and competes in the J2 League. The club is known for drawing some of the highest attendances in Japanese football, well above what its league position would suggest. It plays in orange and blue, is nicknamed the White Swans, and lends its name to sister clubs in Singapore and Barcelona.
