Aston Villa Football Club is an English club from Aston in Birmingham, founded in 1874 by members of a local chapel cricket team. It plays at Villa Park, its home since 1897, a ground of 43,205 places, and competes in the Premier League. Villa have won the league seven times, the FA Cup seven times, the League Cup five times and the European Cup in 1982. The club was one of the twelve founder members of the Football League in 1888. It plays in claret and blue, a combination it made popular across English football, and is nicknamed the Villans.
