1. FC Köln is a German football club from Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia, formed on 13 February 1948 from the merger of Kölner Ballspiel-Club 1901 and SpVgg Sülz 07. It plays at the RheinEnergieStadion, a ground of 49,698 places, and competes in the Bundesliga after promotion from the second tier. Köln won the first Bundesliga title in 1964 and the German championship in 1962, plus four DFB-Pokals. It plays in red and white, and its billy goat mascot, Hennes, is named after a former coach.
