FC Metz is a French football club from Metz in Lorraine, founded on 23 March 1932. It plays at the Stade Saint-Symphorien, a ground of about 28,800 places on an island in the Moselle, and competes in Ligue 2 after relegation from Ligue 1. The club won the Coupe de France in 1984 and 1988 and the Coupe de la Ligue in 1996, and has moved between the top two divisions for decades. It plays in claret and is nicknamed Les Grenats. Its academy has a strong record of producing internationals.
