Helmond Sport is a Dutch football club from Helmond in North Brabant, founded on 27 July 1967. It plays at the GS Staalwerken Stadion, a ground of 3,600 places, and competes in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football. The club reached the Eredivisie in 1982 and stayed two seasons, its only spell in the top flight, and has played in the second division ever since. It plays in red and black and is nicknamed De Kattenmeppers, the cat beaters, after an old story about the town.
