ASC Oțelul Galați is a Romanian football club from Galați on the Danube, founded in 1964 as the works team of the local steel plant and re-established in 2016 after the original club folded. It plays at the Stadionul Oțelul, a ground of 13,500 places, and competes in Liga I. The club won the Romanian championship in 2011 and played in the Champions League group stage the following season, meeting Manchester United, Benfica and Basel. It plays in red, white and blue and is nicknamed the Steelworkers. After the refounding it climbed from the third tier back to the top flight in seven seasons.
