Bayer 04 Leverkusen is a German football club from Leverkusen in North Rhine-Westphalia, founded on 1 July 1904 as the sports club of the Bayer chemical works. It plays at the BayArena, a ground of about 30,200 places, and competes in the Bundesliga. The club won the UEFA Cup in 1988 and its first German championship in 2024, going through the entire season unbeaten under Xabi Alonso. It plays in red and black and is nicknamed Die Werkself, the factory eleven.
