D.C. United is an American soccer club from Washington, DC, founded on 15 June 1994 as a charter club of Major League Soccer. It plays at Audi Field, a ground of about 20,000 places, and competes in the Eastern Conference. United won MLS Cup four times in the league's first seven seasons and the Cup Winners' Cup of CONCACAF in 1998, the most decorated record of the early MLS era. It plays in black and red and is nicknamed the Black-and-Red.
