Empoli FC is an Italian football club from Empoli in Tuscany, founded in 1920. It plays at the Stadio Carlo Castellani, a ground of about 16,800 places, and competes in Serie B. Empoli is one of the few clubs from a town that is not a provincial capital to have played regularly in Serie A, which it has done in stretches since 1986. It plays in blue and is nicknamed Gli Azzurri. The club is known across Italy for a youth academy that consistently produces players for bigger sides.
