Kongsvinger IL is a Norwegian football club from Kongsvinger in Innlandet, founded on 31 January 1892. It plays at the Gjemselund Stadion, a ground of 5,824 places, and competes in the second tier of Norwegian football. The club spent fifteen consecutive seasons in the top division between 1984 and 1998 and reached the Norwegian Cup final in 1985. It plays in red and white. Kongsvinger is a small town near the Swedish border, and its long run in the top flight remains its defining achievement.
