UC Sampdoria is an Italian football club from Genoa in Liguria, formed on 12 August 1946 out of a merger of Sampierdarenese and Andrea Doria. It plays at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, a ground of 33,205 places shared with Genoa, and competes in the Italian league. Sampdoria won the Italian championship in 1991 and reached the European Cup final the following year. It plays in blue with a white, red and black band and is nicknamed I Blucerchiati.
