Stoke City Football Club is an English club from Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, one of the oldest league clubs in the world and a founder member of the Football League in 1888. It plays at the bet365 Stadium, a ground of 30,089 places, and competes in the Championship. The club won the League Cup in 1972, its only major trophy, and spent ten seasons in the Premier League from 2008. It plays in red and white stripes and is nicknamed the Potters, after the local ceramics industry.
