Viking FK is a Norwegian football club from Stavanger, founded on 10 August 1899. It plays at the SR-Bank Arena, a ground of about 15,900 places, and competes in the Eliteserien. The club has won eight Norwegian championships and six cups, and has spent more seasons in the top division than almost any other Norwegian club. It plays in dark blue and is nicknamed Vikingen. Stavanger is the centre of the Norwegian oil industry, which has underpinned the club since the 1970s.
